This beautiful Krosno crystal firing glass is crafted from the finest quality lead free crystal and features a hand-ground polished flat base.

Founded in 1923, Krosno has managed to successfully wed time-honoured glass blowing traditions with traditional and new contemporary designs to be one of the market leaders in glass and crystal ware.

The shape is inspired by mid 19th century Masonic firing glasses, having a short trumpet-shaped bowl on a thick, flattened globular foot.

Firing glasses date back to the eighteenth century, The reason for the thickened foot was that these glasses were used for drinking frequent toasts at a club evening. Such glasses would have been trumped sharply on the table and consequently needed to be robust to withstand such treatment. The noise made by banging the glass on the table in this way was thought to resemble that of gunfire, hence the name firing glass.

Each Firing Glass is supplied in its own blue gift box.

A lovely gift to give or receive, and to be cherished for many years to come.

This Firing Glass Measures
H: 108mm x D: 60mm
